Born and raised in New Zealand, Leanne grew up with a love of art history and practical art and could always be found in the art studio during High School. When she moved to Australia in 2000, she drew on her knowledge of art and design to help develop her aesthetic style as she perfected her skills in what would become her true artistic passion, photography.
In 2002, Leanne spent a year living and working in China, where she focused her lenses on travel & portrait photography. When she returned to Brisbane, she was determined to continue her photography passion and turned her focus to weddings.
Over the past two decades, Leanne has built a rich and diverse photography portfolio. With over 20 years of experience and more than 750 weddings captured, her work has taken her across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast, Vanuatu, and New Zealand. In 2012, she was honoured with three Silver Awards from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography for her work in travel and portraiture.
Leanne is known for her relaxed, natural style and her ability to put couples at ease. She documents each wedding with care and creativity, capturing the day as it unfolds. Her experience, professionalism, and friendly nature make her a trusted choice for couples seeking heartfelt and timeless images.
Outside of photography, Leanne holds Diplomas in Nursing and Business and previously worked as an Oncology and Haematology nurse.
She’s also a proud mum to a fabulous little girl who keeps her grounded, challenged, and endlessly busy.
Sean is an Australian-born photographer with a passion for the graininess of traditional film-based photography. Ever since he was handed his first Hanimex 110 film camera as a child, he has loved the mystery of waiting for photos to be developed and printed to see what was captured.
Over the following years, Sean focused his love of photography on travel and adventure. Photographs taken during a wilderness trip to Alaska in 2009 were later featured as part of a global Panasonic travel photography exhibition.
In 2020, Sean returned his focus to vintage professional film cameras and the beauty and grain of film. Since then, he has built up a portfolio of street photography, portraiture, and photojournalism, with a strong focus on black & white film, which he develops himself. In 2024, a selection of his work was featured in the UK's Ilford Magazine.
Since joining Leanne J Photography, Sean has relished bringing his classic cameras to weddings to add that little vintage extra where couples appreciate it. Whether he's shooting high-contrast black and whites or the rich, warm tones of medium format colour film, his photos deliver that extra analogue magic alongside Leanne’s superb digital photography. Sean is also a published author, a former CEO, and father to two teenage daughters.
