brisbane marriage registry office parking options

During the week, our go-to parking is at 179 Turbot St (next door to the Registry Office), accessible from the far right-hand lane.

This car park is very small and windy, though! We drive a KIA Sportage, and if it was any bigger, we're not sure we'd feel comfortable parking there, to be honest!

It’s important to note, though, that this carpark is not open on the weekends.

Our next favourite parking location is the Post Office Square Car Park. It's a 5 minute walk to the Registry Office entrance on Ann St.

Both of these are great locations, though, and you can book ahead and save money.

On Saturdays, we have always been able to find street parking on Turbot St.

It is metered, but it’s not expensive. We typically pay anywhere from $5-$10 for Saturday parking.

The train station is also close to Ann St, and a taxi or Uber can drop guests off outside the main entrance on Turbot St.

Below are links to our favourite car parks where you can book online and save.

brisbane marriage registry office faq's

Indoor Photography: Inside the Brisbane Registry Office are two formal ceremony rooms with simple, elegant décor. Your package includes your ceremony, family and group shots, and portraits.

Post-Ceremony Photography: After your ceremony, there are great opportunities for photos around Brisbane City, including iconic Brisbane spots like the Brisbane City Hall or the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.

While the Brisbane Marriage Registry Office is open to professional photographers, there are certain restrictions:

Time Limit: Your ceremony will take approximately 10 minutes, and you will have the room for 30 minutes.

No Photos: Photography is restricted and enforced within the building, except for the Brisbane Registry Office on level 32. Security is located in the foyer of the building, and they will approach visitors if phones and camera equipment are being used.

Witnesses: You need 2 people to witness your ceremony and sign your marriage certificate. Your witnesses can be family or friends and do not need to be Australian citizens.

They need to be:

  • 18 or older
  • Speak and understand English
  • Be present at the entire ceremony

Please let me know if we can help. Sean and I have witnessed many small weddings, and we are happy to help where we can.

Vows: You can write your own vows or exchange traditional ones.

Readings or Music: You can also request specific readings or music, though options may be limited due to time limits.

If you want to walk into the ceremony room with music playing, the Registry Office advises having your Spotify playlist ready and in the order you want it played.

There is a setup to plug your phone into, and the staff will be on hand to assist.

You do need to have a guest press play for the music. Sean and I are happy to help with this, too.

Please be sure to discuss any personal requests with the registry office when booking to make sure they can accommodate your needs.

Yes, non-Australian citizens can get married at the Brisbane Marriage Registry Office. You need to bring the necessary documents, including passports and proof of the end of any previous marriages (if applicable).

It’s recommended that you book your ceremony at least one month in advance to allow for the processing of documents and securing a date that works for you. However, the office can accommodate some last-minute bookings, depending on availability.
